As most people do, I remember the exact moment when my family got a puppy. My parents had looked for dogs to get because they thought it would be good to have a dog and we were old enough to handle one. I remember the night before, when I had hit a grand slam in a baseball game, leading my team to victory. The next day, which was a weekend morning, my parents called my brother and I to come down to the back porch to see a little surprise. I was excited, but I had no idea what it could be. I ran outside to find a black labradoodle, a cute little puppy, wagging her tail on the deck. I was filled with joy and couldn’t believe it. Mom and Dad explained that her name was Juliet, but they thought we could call her Jules. The name stuck and that’s exactly what I call her today. She is a few years old now and still acts like a playful pup at times. I’m so glad to have Jules in our home and she is always someone I can count on to lift my spirits up.
