Super Bowl XLVIII

As I’m sure you know, the 48th Super Bowl is this Sunday in New York/New Jersey. This matchup features the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos. These teams are very diverse from the other, but they are both still the two best teams in the NFL.

Denver has the best offense in the league, while Seattle has the best defense in the league. Both teams have great quarterbacks, but Peyton Manning is older and Russell Wilson has looked up to him as he has grown as a QB. Although Denver is favored by 2, many people have mixed predictions on how the game will turn out.

My favorite team in the NFL is Denver, so I will be pulling for them. My dad grew up watching and cheering for the Broncos, so I just followed him. Like most Denver Bronco fans, my favorite player is Peyton Manning, the best QB this year.

I’m very excited to see how this game goes and I’m sure you are too. GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

Skiing

Flying down the mountain with snow flying in my face and my heart pounding. I can see the end of the run right ahead and make one last sprint to the finish. At last, I come to a stop at the bottom of the mountain with a big smile on my face.

“Let’s do it again!” I shout. “Ok fine but just this last time,” my dad says. So we head up the ski lift again and again, gliding down new, undiscovered slopes. Even when I wipeout I laugh at myself. Everything about skiing seems to be a blast. An exhilarating rush goes through the body and I am able to forget about everything else and just have fun.

Whether I’m with my dad, my brother or my friends—skiing is one of the best things in the world. I especially like weaving through trees and getting some air on bumps and hills. It’s like a little obstacle course on skis and snow.

Nothing beats skiing with a nice cup of hot chocolate afterwards!

Where I’m From

I am from SportsCenter

And the constant blabber of the TV

I am from a Saturday full of football

And a life full of sports

I am from an amazing family

And Christmas Casserole

I am from the annual Turkey Bowl

And lawnchair tennis

I am from my little twin bed

And a never clean bedroom

I am from all kinds of Apple products

And any kind of Nike clothing

I am from a fear of heights

And “C’mon, you can do it!”

I am from the old, rusted basketball goal outside

And the best friends ever

Basketball Tryouts

Last week, about 60 guys and I tried out for the West Ridge 7th grade basketball team. The tryouts were fun but also nerve wrecking, not knowing if you were going to be on the team or not. Luckily, I made the top 25 and made the team! I was very excited, but I knew I still had to prove what I could do to be on the A-team.

This week everyone that made the team congratulated each other and it all seemed happy, yet we all knew what was going to happen this week. The coaches would split us up. This week has been much tougher and I have been even more nervous than I was the first week. I feel like I have proven enough that I can make the A-team. The coaches will announce the teams tomorrow and I can’t wait!

Brad & Laura Wedding

This past weekend, I went to my cousin Laura’s wedding. I have been anticipating this great event for quite some time now and it was a lot of fun. It was held in Dripping Springs and the site was beautiful. There was even a big bell tower that my brother and I got to ring at the end of the wedding ceremony.

Brad had always felt like family before the wedding made it official. He has been nice, funny, loving and caring to the whole family since we met him. He has always been a great guy to be around and he is always up for a competitive but playful game. Brad and Laura have seemed to really have that one in common.

In conclusion, the wedding was great and I am very happy. The food was great, too! Congratulations Brad and Laura!!!

Captain Phillips

Last night I went to go see the movie Captain Phillips. It was a great action packed movie based on a true story. It was all about how this U.S. ship captain, Tom Hanks, was shipping cargo to African countries with his crew when their boat gets taken over by Somalian pirates. The pirates want lots of money and they are looking to kill the crew members. Then, they take Captain Phillips in a lifeboat. It is soon 4 armed Somalian pirates and the captain of the ship in a small lifeboat.
When things are not looking good, the United States Navy comes to the rescue and saves Captain Phillips while shooting and killing 3 pirates and capturing the other. That pirate is in an American prison today in Indiana.
Lots happened in this movie and it showed how dangerous these waters are and how amazing our Navy can be. I was amazed at how piracy really works in the ocean and I learned a lot about this topic. I highly recommend that you go see this movie in the theaters somewhere because I thought it was great.

When My Family Got a Dog

As most people do, I remember the exact moment when my family got a puppy. My parents had looked for dogs to get because they thought it would be good to have a dog and we were old enough to handle one. I remember the night before, when I had hit a grand slam in a baseball game, leading my team to victory. The next day, which was a weekend morning, my parents called my brother and I to come down to the back porch to see a little surprise. I was excited, but I had no idea what it could be. I ran outside to find a black labradoodle, a cute little puppy, wagging her tail on the deck. I was filled with joy and couldn’t believe it. Mom and Dad explained that her name was Juliet, but they thought we could call her Jules. The name stuck and that’s exactly what I call her today. She is a few years old now and still acts like a playful pup at times. I’m so glad to have Jules in our home and she is always someone I can count on to lift my spirits up. What was it like when you got your first dog, or if you don’t have one, do you want a dog?

The Boys of Fall

Now that school has begun, so has something else. I really enjoy this time of year, especially the weekends. I can just sit on the couch and watch something that I love, football. The craziness and excitement of college games on Saturday, and the intense NFL games on Sunday. Then, I have my middle school games on Monday. Something about playing under the lights at a huge stadium in Austin, Texas is so much fun. When it’s time for a football game, everything in my mind like schoolwork just goes away and all I can think about is football. A football game or practice is something I look forward to almost everyday. It doesn’t get better than football season.
